Pregancy Saver pack

Breeders Wormcount Pregnancy Pack

Further information

This pack comprises the following items:

  • One worm egg screen for the bitch during pregnancy, to be sampled on or just after day 40 of pregnancy
  • One worm egg screen for the bitch following whelping, to be sampled on any day between 21-25 days post whelp
  • One pooled worm egg screen for the puppies, to be sampled on any day between 21-25 days post whelp
  • A voucher with unique code for a further 5% discount off the individual puppy screens for this litter at 7 weeks post whelp
  • Free help and advice from our Registered Animal Medicines Advisor specialist canine team

Please note that pooled samples should not be used if there is an anomalously sickly puppy in the litter.  If a pooled sample from a litter over the age of 25 days post whelp is submitted, the sample may not be representative of the litter so the sample will be rejected by the lab and the test cannot be used at that point.

The kits come with full instructions of the requirements and we recommend they are read and followed exactly.

Tested and issued the same working day the sample arrives into the lab.  The worm egg screen will identify and quantify of all species present within the family groups of:

  • Ascarids
  • Hookworms
  • Whipworms
  • Threadworms

In addition, as standard, this screen also reports on:

  • All species of cestodes (Tapeworms*)
  • Protozoa – Coccidia

*Tapeworms are very intermittent shedders and do not always show on a worm egg screen.  If present in the sample, the species will be identified. As they may not have been present when the sample was taken, it is advisable to use regular tapeworm specific treatment.

The screen, as standard, also reports on:

  • Undigested lipids (qualitative analysis)
  • Undigested microscopic food particles (qualitative analysis)
