Digestion Panel (Level 1)

Further information

Our Digestion Panel – Level 1 is a laboratory faecal assessment designed to provide supportive information about how well food is being digested.

The test focuses on undigested lipids and microscopic food material present within the submitted faecal sample. Our trained laboratory team examines the sample using microscopy and reports the findings clearly.

What does the Digestion Panel assess?

The Level 1 panel assesses:

  • Undigested lipid material
  • Microscopic food material
  • Overall appearance of the faecal sample
  • Other relevant microscopic digestive findings

The findings can provide useful supportive information where digestive efficiency is a concern. They may also help when reviewing persistent changes in stool quality, diet tolerance or gastrointestinal function.

When might a digestion panel be useful?

This test may be useful for dogs with recurrent soft stools, changes in faecal consistency or concerns about how well food is being digested.

The findings should always be considered alongside the dog’s diet, appetite, body condition, clinical history and any other relevant veterinary investigations.

The Digestion Panel is not intended to diagnose a specific gastrointestinal disease on its own. Instead, it provides additional laboratory information that can support a wider assessment of digestive health.

Laboratory testing and results

Our trained laboratory team examines the submitted faecal sample using microscopy and reviews the findings before issuing the report.

We present the results clearly so they can be considered alongside diet, stool quality and veterinary advice where required.

Every Digestion Panel includes a clear laboratory report and free after-test advice where required.

Our Digestion Panel – Level 1 is a laboratory faecal assessment for dogs.

The test examines the submitted sample for undigested lipids and microscopic food material. Our trained laboratory team performs the assessment using faecal microscopy.

The findings provide supportive information about digestion and may be useful where stool quality, diet tolerance or digestive efficiency is a concern.

Results should be considered alongside the dog’s diet, body condition, clinical history and any other relevant findings.

Clear laboratory results and free after-test advice are included.

The laboratory report provides findings from microscopic examination of the submitted faecal sample.

We assess and report:

  • Undigested lipid material
  • Microscopic food material
  • Relevant faecal characteristics
  • Other digestive findings visible during microscopic examination

The results provide supportive information about digestion rather than a diagnosis of a specific gastrointestinal condition.

Consider the findings alongside the dog’s diet, stool consistency, body condition, clinical history and veterinary advice where appropriate.

Turnaround time: Our laboratory team completes and reviews the Digestion Panel within 24 hours of the sample arriving at our laboratory.

Sample collection: Submit a fresh, representative faecal sample from one dog. Please follow the collection instructions supplied with the kit.
