Our Worm Count Test for Farm Animals is a laboratory faecal egg count (FEC) for monitoring gastrointestinal parasites in livestock. It measures the number of parasite eggs present in a faecal sample and reports the result as eggs per gram (EPG).
Regular faecal egg counts help farmers and livestock keepers make informed parasite control decisions. Testing can identify when treatment may be required and help reduce unnecessary use of wormers.
Our trained laboratory team examines each sample using microscopy. We screen for gastrointestinal nematode eggs and relevant protozoa found in farm animals.

The report gives an eggs-per-gram result for strongyle-type gastrointestinal nematodes and records other relevant parasite findings. Cestode eggs are identified if present, and coccidia are reported where relevant. Where Barber Pole worm needs specific confirmation, a separate Haemonchus contortus qPCR test can be used.
Wormcount testing is completed, reviewed and issued within 24 hours of arrival into the laboratory.
