Wormcount’s clinical team includes Registered Animal Medicines Advisors (RAMAs) registered with AMTRA, the Animal Medicines Training and Regulatory Authority. RAMAs are qualified to prescribe and advise on veterinary medicines within defined legal categories, including NFA-VPS and POM-VPS products for companion animals, avians and equines. Many of the team hold memberships of professional bodies including the British Society for Parasitologists and the Royal Microscopical Society. Free aftercare advice from the clinical team is included with every Wormcount result.
Wormcount has been operating since 2008, when it was founded as the UK’s first direct-access canine testing laboratory. Since then, it has grown to offer over 40 diagnostic tests across all animal species, completing more than 250,000 tests and counting.
No. Wormcount does not sell any worming treatments, supplements, or health products of any kind. This is a deliberate policy to ensure complete impartiality. Wormcount’s role is to provide accurate, unbiased test results, and selling treatment products would create a conflict of interest. Where treatment is recommended following a positive result, owners are directed to their vet or a suitably qualified person (SQP).
Yes. Wormcount works with veterinary practices, educational establishments, and animal parks across the UK, providing a specialist laboratory testing service that allows practices to offer accurate parasite screening without the need for in-house testing resources. Results are emailed directly back to the practice, allowing vets to advise their clients and provide any clinical aftercare as needed.
